How to Make a Comic and Not get OverwhelmedHere's some stuff my art professors told the class that I thought was awesome advice. The reasons all my comics flopped was because I didn't know what the HECK I was doing. So I thought I'd share just in case there are people with the same issue.
Note that everything you write and draw in the beginning stages will look bad. No exceptions. You need to get the idea out BEFORE you make it look good. If you focus too much on making it look good you will fail at executing your ideas. The steps should be:
1. Flesh it out badly to get the ideas of the story and characters out. It does not need to be perfect, it just has to exist. Answer these questions: Who is the story for? What is the main objective?
2. Refine the details of the story and start putting things into more perspective.
3. Begin drawing the world and characters. Here the same rule as step 1 apply, it doesn't need to be perfect it just has to exist.
4. Begin to refine those details, fix the artwork and draw clearer versions
